Lavendula High Five

Postby GoldenWattle » Thu Jun 28, 2012 7:43 pm

I like the flowers on Avonview Lavender, but over several years of growing them, they only ever flowered 3-4 weeks in spring. I have two Lavendula dentata (French Lavender) whose flowers don't really excite me, but they flower all the time. Even if the flowers are a bit ordinary, I do love watching the bees collecting pollen from them.

I've had limited success with Hidcote, Munstead and Lavender Lady (my favourite Lavender flower) and I propagated an Allardi about a year ago which has yet to flower. I recently read in GA magazine that a new Australian bred variety which looks just like Avonview, but flowers all year, has been released and it's called High Five. I was wondering if anyone has it and can comment as to how it goes. Can anyone suggest other varieties that flower more than once (or for an extended period of time)?
