Water gum grow too big for this area?

Postby Natve_Junglist » Wed Feb 19, 2014 2:09 pm

Hi,

I have a newly planted water gum which seems to be happy where it is but.. is it going to grow too big for the area where I planted it? I've read it can grow up to 8m tall and 3m wide which would be fine but I've read elsewhere it can grow to be a ginormous 15m x 6m tree! With these inconsistencies I'm worry it could get way too big and I really don't want to have to dig it out!

Here are some pictures of where it is situated.

At his last place my brother had one that was easily that size, probably a fair bit wider.

I read on the tag the approximate height is 8m. That's got to be a laugh. I spent a lot on a plant that could double the height it stated.

According to this website it grows to a height of 8m and 3m wide. Is the 'Luscious' variety different from a typical water gum? My plant is a tristaniopis laurina 'luscious' so I'm hoping it does differ. Does anyone know? Thanks.
