dancing dolphin vine & cigar flower

Postby Forum_mod » Thu Mar 13, 2003 12:08 pm

Have you ever heard of a dancing dolphin vine? It was advertised by Michigan Bulb Co. as a green foliage with red-orange flowers resembling dolphins leaping into the air. I cannot contact the company & am very curious about it. If it exists, what is the botanical name & where can I purchase it. Is a cigar plant a perennial? Also can hyacinth bulbs be grown in just a water vase? Thank you.

H Judy,
No idea about the first two questions, however I can answer the last one - Yes, they can be grown in just a vase of water, the only requirement is that the bulb is kept a few millimeters out of the water and that they be kept in the dark until roots form and the bulb sprouts.

If you find out about the dancing dolphin vine please tell me! :\)
