Best (and cheapest) solution to redo a lawn

Below are a couple of photos of my front lawn (although the term 'lawn' is rather dubious here)

A seriously wet winter and lack of attention has left me with more weeds than lawn. And even the wallabies can't eat all these weeds

I'm thinking weed, feed, top dress and seed. Hubby reckons the birds will just eat all the seed and the Bush Turkeys will just scratch up the soil. I'm thinking he may be right.

Other option is to re turf. Its about 220 - 250 sq metres.

So I'm trying to do a comparative pricing and look at what would be the best, and cheapest, solution. On top of 'materials' we will also have to be paying our gardeners to do the work so the less hourly labour will be better for us dollar wise.

What do you think would be the best way to go?
Take my advice..... I don't use it anyway.
