How to encourage Ponytail Palm to produce pups?

Postby Ethanwd » Sun Oct 08, 2017 9:13 pm

Hi there,
I’ve got a fairly large (~2m tall) Ponytail Palm with two trunks of similar height & would like to propagate it. I understand that these tend to produce pups, however mine doesn’t seem to have produced any. Just wondering if there is a way you can encourage a Ponytail Palm to produce pups? I believe some plants can be encouraged to produce pups by ‘injuring’ the plant (making a small incision). Are Ponytail Palms like this?
Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Cheers
Ethan

Hi. Yes a small nick in the bulbous part can sometimes produce an off shoot
