Satsuki azalea

Postby lmrk » Sat Nov 24, 2007 12:30 pm

Got a little bloom on my little (and I mean little - only 5cm high  ) Satsuki azalea:

Had this for about 18 months and although it is really healthy and growing out wards, it hasn't increased in height one little bit. Any suggestions on how to make it taller?

BTW, does anyone know if all alazea's can be bonsaid, or only the Satsuki variety?

Cheers

Leah

Can't see the photos for some reason.

Most trees/shrubs can be grown as bonsai, even rainforest trees.

Google "Bonsai Azalea".

Yes Leah, just about all Azaleas can be used for Bonsai - and Satsuki are ideal. They have naturally small leaves and when trimmed regularly create nice compact foliage pads. Another excellent variety are the Kurumi Azaleas (sorry I'm a bit late in catching up with the posts).
