So many roses are stunning when open - but I think they can also be pretty amazing when just a group of buds, like these Red Pierre buddies on our arbour! :)

Give it another week or so, and I'm sure they will be starting to open up. Then I'll pop up another post for you! :)

The prettiest rose in the garden right now is the Apricot Nectar, I think. So pretty and full of big fluffy blooms. :) The possums and rosellas have been at it again, unfortunately!!   Mr Lincoln, Heritage, Nahema, Sir Donald Bradman and this morning, the main climbing leader of Devoniensis, was nipped and eaten!!!!! NOT happy, Jan!!!

Froggy, get this product called "Possoff". It stinks to high heaven, it's environmentally safe and won't harm animals but deter them by it's off-putting smell. They are available at any gardening store also at K-.....

Thanks, Spiderlily. :) I thought it was a nice change from always seeing lots of roses in bloom - the buds can sometimes be just as pretty, especially with the bright green and red here. I'll take another shot of them when they begin to open. :)

Thank you, Comeilotei - I must give it a try. We have been using napthalene flakes (mothballs) which we were told is the main ingredient in Poss Off, but it dissolves when it rains or you water, so maybe I will try the Poss Off. The other thing that works well, is Blood and Bone - might throw that around first. :)

See you Saturday - am watering the rhubarb furiously to keep it growing well so I can make your pie!!!

You are such a sweetie Froggy! I'm drooling already!

Re: the Poss Off, i doubt it's made with naphthalene flakes, i believe it's made from some chlli or pepper or some smelly plant. Naphthalene I believe is carcinogenic, be careful when using around gardens if you have pets.

Thanks pokie - will be posting a new 'in bloom' pic in a few more days, maybe a week. Some are just starting to open and look great! :D I can't wait till it covers the arbour. Also have a lovely palest creamy white Old rose called Devoniensis which has decided to climb on the arbour too, so it will look great with the red and white one day! :)

Enrico, we only planted the 2 Red Pierre's a few months ago in about October! AND the crimson rosellas have had a nibble or three and I broke one water shoot off!! The other side isn't nearly as successful, but it will come. This one with all the buds is a bit over a metre high on the arbour! :D
