Rose 2007 Winners announced

Postby ian » Thu Mar 08, 2007 5:08 pm

The Competitions are getting harder to judge each time as there are more entries and the quality means that even the short list isn't short. To add to the difficulty, roses would have to be one of the most photogenic flowers and they radiate beauty.

To help recognise at least some of the very good entries we have decided to blow the budget and award some extra winners as we couldn't get a concensus on 2nd place. Even so there are still entries that are in many way deserving of recognition but we had to draw the line somwhere.

The winners of the Rose Photo Competition are:

1st prize - $200 Garden Express voucher - froglover for "Beautiful Bonica":

Equal 2nd prize - $60 Garden Express voucher - Spider Lily for "Chicago Peace":

Equal 2nd prize - $60 Garden Express voucher - The Estate for "Red Pierre":

Equal 2nd prize - $60 Garden Express voucher - ashke for "Seduction":

Congratulations to the winners, the other entrants and all the members that gave encouragement with the positive comments on the entries.

Keep an eye out for the next Garden Express catalogue in April - we think you will recognise several of the images! Thank you all again for your entries and we wish you well for the next competitions - judging will probably be an even greater challenge than this one!

A well-deserved win, Froggy! It's a lovely pic. Something tells me there should have been 163 2nd places, but as you say Ian, you have to draw the line somewhere. They were all winning pics! :D

wow just logged on after a few days away, and found out about the comp winners wooohoooooo!! :o

congrats froggy, very well done, and a lovely photo :D

congrats also to the other winners, and to the many encouraging comments from other forum members...they're much appreciated

and many thanks to GE, both for running the comp and providing the prizes

EDIT - have one question..."prize must be redeemed in 28 days" as per terms & conditions...does that mean we need to use the prize in that time, or just acknowledge it?

TIA

It means we like to know you are a real person who is able to use the prize within 28 days so that if you aren't, we can give it to someone else who can enjoy it. Beyond that you can take your time as you may want to wait for a particular time of year to spend it.

I have been following this competition with a keen eye and I have to say, how did you choose? There were so many lovely photos. Has there ever been a calendar composed of winning shots, I'd buy it.Perhaps with small panting hints ie put the bulbs in the fridge  .Congratulations to the winners and the contestants and well done to the judges.
