I agree Daffy, beautiful. I particularly like the subtle coloring of the spiced coffee picture.

keep up the great work! Image

Yes Charles is definitely the pick for purple roses, love that fragrance. What are other peoples picks for purples ....other than blue moon.

Spiced coffee was a sub for julias rose (which I now also have), it's similar in colour but better for form. It has a most interesting spicy fragrance. I like it!

That Charles is beautiful. Angel Face is one of my favourite purplish roses. I have put in a climbing one last year but it has been a bit slow

That's a beauty,Tracey. Do you have its name? It looks a bit like Princesse de Monaco but it could be one of dozens of others.

as I have an enforced 2 week "holiday"(thanks to an unexpected stay in hospital), I thought I'd use the time to share one of my stripey favourites, Candy Stripe.

'Sidonie' (Hybrid Perpetual)
The bush was covered with buds. Very impressive. However, the blooms looked a bit tiny and I can't detect much scent. The 1st rose to b/s without spray.
Image
'Mayor of Casterbridge' (David Austin)
Old-fashioned leaves, pretty pink cupped blooms with intertwine petals inside. However, the color fades to a pearly white colour on a hot sunny day. Straight stems, not too dropy like most David Austin roses:
Image
'Evelyn' (David Austin)
Romantic, peachy coloured roses; about half the size of a tennis ball.

I had Princess de Monaco and I agree, it looks just like it.

Orchid....your pic of Soeur Emmanuel is divine,
as is the one of Charles de Gaulle...both of which I have here.

Here is my offering...feeling a bit intimated by the ones I have seen in the last few posts, :(

Funnily enough the last 2 came from KMART, they seem to be the only chain store to stock a good selection of them.Better than the nurseries!

Kmart have a contract with Rankins Roses who supply their Delbards.
There are some really lovely Delbards and I think thet are becoming more popular each year.
