Rotating water feature for African Violets

Postby helendinter » Sat Jun 28, 2008 10:40 am

This rotating water feature for African Violets is something special that my husband designed and built. Water is pumped from the large ceramic container, to the top of the stand. The fertilised water trickles slowly down the ceramic dishes back to the large pot. The African Violets are potted up in special designed ceramic pots, also by my husband. Each ceramic pot has a nylon wick that soaks up the water from the dishes with the running fertilised water. The stand slowly rotates once every 15 seconds. Any other indoor or outdoor plant, growing on a wick system would look fantastic on this stand.

Oh that's lovely helendinter!! Beautiful violets and a terrific selection of colours! Did you make it yourself or can you purchase them anywhere? Great container entry :)

Gerry's pots are wonderful - they are all my mother wants for her birthday each year. And his violets are just so beautiful and healthy. As an added bonus, they are both just lovely people - even put up with Pam, Enrico and I visiting them last year...there's photos somewhere that Enrico posted. I'll try and find the link.

Helen that is great...hubby should be selling the stands...my late mother always grew a/violets & I have always admired them...never had much luck with them...maybe you can pass on a few secrets..
