ID plant pls, seedling, redish new growth

Postby gavins1 » Mon Dec 02, 2013 12:01 pm

this seedling has popped up next to my pond waterfall, it looks similar to others that pop up in random places like my birds nest fern, Im assuming its a weedy type plant but it looks quite ok to me. I live on the central coast NSW. Thanks
Gavin

Hi,

The plant is coming from seeds from a nearby tree. They are probably travelling on the wind. ID the tree and the seedlings will be the same but are hard to ID when they are small.

At first glance it looked like a little like a pittosporum type weed that comes up regularly at Mum's place. We pull them out while they're small, as they're tough little buggers.
