What is this big leaf plant called?

Postby heli » Sat Feb 01, 2014 8:58 pm

I have this plant in my garden and also saw them in Brisbane's botanical garden, but didn't see any tag indicating its name.

I'd like to know what it is called so that I can do some research to find out what to expect from them and how to manage them (pruning, etc.).

There seems to be two varieties of this plant in my garden, one taller with larger leaf while the shorter one has smaller and thinner leaf.

The bottom two two photos are of the larger variety.

It's a philodendron. There's quite a few similar ones. Try P. selloum.

They're all pretty tough.

Thank you, bubba louie. I found some photos online by googling for philodendron selloum and I'm confident my plant is the one. I have found some caring instructions and decide to give it a good cutting.
