Is it fungus or bug?

Postby newbieplanter » Mon Apr 21, 2014 1:41 pm

So i am new to gardening and stuff. I have started growing gold cherry tomatoes from seed. Now these little guys are 5 week old. They are still in pots. Today I looked closely and there low leaves are turning yellow with blackish blot like spots. I have attached picture of those leaves that I plucked off but I see Black dots appearing on higher leaves too which has me concerned. Please help me identify the problem and solution for it.
Ps. I live in hot area and they get shaded sunlight alot.

A picture of the whole plant would be good for diagnosis. Ammonium sulphate or sulphur prills should fix it up.

newbieplanter, are the newer leaves a healthy green?

If they are, and if that was mine I'd be inclined to carefully pinch off the affected leaves and bin them. While this may not do much to address the cause, they're no longer feeding the plant anyway in that condition, and if there IS something fungal there it would slow down the spread.

Not to be a know it all but I really doubt it would be anything "fungal". People often speak of a nameless fungi when they can't diagnose the true problem. Looks like text book sulphur deficiency. Pale leaves, chlorosis and necrotic spots.....

I get that on mine and have always thought they are just old leaves dying off.
Once plucked off, the rest of the plant is green.
