I'm wondering if anyone knows this one. It grows to about 1m. with a few leaders. Seems to prefer shade & is somewhat similar to a jacobinia but I'm not sure that it is one. This flower head is about 10cm long. I'm in Northern NSW.

I believe it's Justicia scheidweileri (pronounced shide-WEEL-er-eye).

Beautiful plant. It's in the acanthus family, a lot of which prefer a bit of shade.

Thank you Systema. I just love the sculptural form of the flower heads & the bizarre colour combination. I've been playing with it photographically.
