Nocturnal Chilli Monster

Postby Geoff Clifton » Sun Mar 26, 2017 1:38 pm

I have something in the garden that collects and chews? a lot of chillies overnight. The pic below is about two dozen long red chillies broken up in a large potted plant done in one night. We have found stashes under garden plants and on a window sill behind a hedge. It seems whatever is doing this collects the chillies, takes them to a place with a bit of cover and just breaks them up. What is it? Has anyone else ever experienced this?
Tks, Geoff.

Wow... This is a veritable detective mystery.
I know for sure it's not a mammal, since birds and other types of animals are not affected by the capsaicin(the thing that makes chillies hot).
My guess is that it's some kind of bird breaking them apart to get to the seeds. But then again there's a lot of seeds left.
Hope you find a more definitive answer. I'll be very interested to know who the perp was.
