White Jacaranda tree

Postby Comets_Mum » Fri Oct 31, 2008 2:40 pm

I would like to plant a Jacaranda tree and have read that you can get white flowering ones. I haven't been able to find where they are available online. Does anyone know anything about them and if they are worth planting? Thanks.

Don't know if they are anymore difficult to grow or not, but I do know they are quite rare and hard to source

I've seen them on sale occassionally in some of the bigger nurseries. I think you could probably order on from the biggest nursery near you.

Thanks everyone. They look beautiful, so I will follow up the link. Now I know they are available, I can't decide which colour to plant!

From what I've been able to find, on google, the white one is a smaller tree which could be a plus. The normal ones get very big and prunning ruins the shape of them because any regrowth tends to go straight up.

A member of another forum I used to visit was a fan of the white variety.

Thanks bubba louie. I have read that pruning Jacaranda trees results in them becoming misshapen. We have a fairly big block, so I have room for at least one them. Hopefully, we won't need to prune it and spoil its natural beauty.

Just looked at Buderim's web page. I must ring Graham (the owner) and tell him Jacaranda is not a native.
