Grow Oaks from Acorns?

In a park with the children the other day I noticed lots of green acorns on the ground beneath an oak so I collected a pocketful. Thinking I might try growing them.

This South Aus, Murraylands.

How would I go about this? These green acorns okay or should they be brown?

Just grow seedlings and give them away or an oak can be kept small enough for a suburban small garden?

Oaks will easily grow from acorns but they are usually brown, though it probably depends on which species. Anyway if they were on the ground it would be worth a go. Plant them in a pot and leave outside over winter for some cold treatment, in spring they should germinate. Don't plant them in a suburban garden, they grow too big but you can grow them in a pot for a few years
