Hi Ben!

If you're using the back button, what you're doing is going back to the previous page that had already shown an unread topic. If you click either the 'Board Index' or the particular forum (eg. 'Feedback' here) that appears at the top and the bottom of the page, if effectively 'refreshes' the page, so you'll see what you've read or not. Hope this helps.

I think there may be something in the settings too, because on another php forum I visit it seems to automatically update itself when I hit the back button. Doesn't bother me that it doesn't here though.

Nonetheless, Luzy's explanation is the answer to your query VG. I use an earlier version of Firefox, and it does the same thing. Someone may know a way to 'fix' it, but Firefox is far superior to IE, so it's a small price to pay.

What Luzy and Pam said is correct... to reload a page I right click my mouse select 'Reload' ..easy peasy.... done it a flash. I use Firefox...not sure if this is possible in IE.

Veg Gardener, at this stage you have to refresh to clear the old information. Probably it could be altered, but just now is a busy time for the admin. with new catalogues, etc. to get ready . One of the members may be able to help. I have no problem with refreshing or using the mark topics read button.

You're lucky, VG - everytime I hit the back button this morning, the system crashed!

VG, If you click on your 'back' button then when the page comes up press F5 on your keyboard and it will refresh the screen.

Try this extension, VG. It appears to be about the only way you can avoid having to refresh the page when you go back.

Thanks Pam, I added that one for a test.... I had all tabs going at one stage...looked like a Christmas Tree.
I am wondering...if you had it set for every 5 seconds... that would have bite into your monthly download allowance?

Hmmm, yes, it would.

If you're on a download limit VG you might need to weigh up the convenience this extension might offer, as opposed to it eating into your limit, big time.

In my opinion you'd be better off using the links at the top of the post to return to where you were.
