Problems viewing site in Internet Explorer

Postby GinGinJoan » Sat Feb 28, 2009 3:12 pm

Thought someone might like to know that I can only see the site in its correct format when using Mozilla Firefox to view it. When viewied with Internet Explorer 7 it appears as the following image.

No idea why that is GGJ. I use IE7 and this is a screenshot of your post (click for larger view):

Is it like that all the time when you're using Internet Explorer Joan?

I just opened the site using IE, and it appears fine here. Ian might hopefully be able to shed some light on it for you.

I've been in this Forum for about 2 hours today but have been using Firefox and all OK.

Opened it up in IE and got the same result as before. All in black and blue and no images.

It's no big deal for me as I have my default set at Firefox. Just sometimes I forget and upload IE7 instead.

That's odd - are you using Vista? I have seen some references to there being a problem with viewing some sites when using Vista and IE7 but it mustn't be very common as it there isn't much on it. One person describing the same symptoms eventually said that the supplier had accepted it was a hardware fault (if it is then it is a very odd one for it to be browser specific). Sorry I can't help more than that, hopefully using Firefox is a convenient option if you can't identify what's causing it.

If you're indeed using Vista, Joan, and if the problem is occurring on some systems and not others, this would indeed point toward a hardware problem.

I have Vista and have no problems either in Firefox or IE.

You may want to have a look at your settings in IE, go back to default settings in advanced settings and see if that helps (make sure you reboot afterwards), if that doesn't work start changing the settings in the browsing section of advanced settings, it usually helps.

Thanks to everyone. Yes, I think I will take a look at the IE7 settings, they might have changed during an automatic update of MS.

Using XP Home and those lines you see on the photo have only shown up once the photo is on this site. What I get is everything in either black or royal blue typeface. No pictures. Kind of looks like when you get one of those 404 Error notices but with some of it in blue as well as black. With Firefox it's perfect. 3 tone blue skin, Garden Express logo at top left, Smilies etc.

Please don't worry over it any more for me - I'm happy to use Firefox.

Back to the genealogy.
