If I don't tick the box to stay logged in I log out fairly quickly, but yesterday it was so bad that I was logged out by the time I'd written one post and attached some pics!
If I tick the box to stay logged in it works for a while but eventually I end up logged out again. That's okay, I'm on a few forums where if you're absent for a while that happens, or it just happens intermittently as some kind of a doublecheck I suppose. But today I found I was already logged out after ticking the box just yesterday.

That sounds a bit strange...i wonder if something is going wrong with your browser or cookies. I'm pretty sure i've only ever ticked the stay logged in box once, and ever since, whenever i open the forum page again i'm automatically logged in.

I am not experiencing any problems, so it might be a setting on your computer.

My browser was updated a month or two ago, but it caused no problems with any other forums. :-?

If you are using Firefox, it might be in your Privacy setting. ( Tools-Options-Privacy) Check your Security settings, too.

But I'm not having any trouble getting in, I'm just having trouble staying in. I'll ask my son to check the settings when he has a moment, I don't want to break anything.

Macmaples can I suggest you try clearing your cache and then try signing in again, making sure that the box is ticked? It may or may not work, but is worth a try.

This is a cookies issue. Like Pam suggested, clear your cache and cookies, close browser then re-open. If you need a step by step assistance with this, please dont hesitate to PM myself or a moderator.

Exam time so I haven't spoken to my son about checking my settings yet. Might have a go myself. Oh, except I don't have admin capability so I guess I can't? I just logged in and forgot to tick to stay logged in and in the time it took me to read quickly through one thread and click on reply I was logged out again. I've closed my browser and emptied my cache a few times since I first mentioned this.

Hi MacMaples,

Normally I have the 'Log Me In Automatically' checked (ticked), but as an exercise, I logged out and logged back in using IE, FF and Chrome without issues. Maybe you've been a naughty boy/girl in the past and the Admins have you on a time limit  - just joking. :D

Did you try clearing your cache file(s) and logging back in with "automatically" checked ? Did this fix the issue?

The only other think I can think of is if you are running two forum sessions and you forgot to log the other session in - that will kick you out.

Mac, is your browser or your anti-virus programme set to automatically delete cookies? If so, that could be a cause of your problem.

Not good feeling 'unwanted'. We're all happy to see you log on

Hi MacMaples - I'm clutching at straws here and will ask the obvious question - have you tried others browsers and does the same thing happen?

I thought I ticked the stay logged in box but maybe I forgot again. Tried to preview what I'd typed and was told I have to log in. Logged in AGAIN. Strangely the above quote was still there but what I had typed was gone. :-?

In Safari follow these steps:

# In Safari, from the Safari menu, select Preferences... .

# Click the Security tab.

# To enable cookies, next to "Accept Cookies:", select Always or Only from sites you navigate to.
