Postby Blue Gum » Thu Apr 03, 2014 11:31 am

Hi there I am new on the forum and Looking forward to having some help with my garden questions
I have 10 Butternut pumpkins growing at the moment and have noticed that 3 are splitting. Could someone tell me if they will be ok to use. I have cut them from the vine as they are a golden colour and ready. Thank you so much for your help

g'day BG,

yes they will be safe to use, we have had this happen to kents/japs, can be caused by too long on the vine but generally too much water at a late stage of development

Thank you Len for your help as I was afraid I would have to put them in the Mulch bin. :D
