devil weed berries - bush tucker

Postby gardenlen » Wed Aug 20, 2014 1:11 pm

we have devil weed plants growing as sacrificial plant to attract fig birds and king parrots so they leave our tom's alone

friend who has asian wife was visiting and his wife thai' said you ea these berries, shock horror to me but appears she is right, another common name for plant is thai eggplant.

they say that egg plant can be grafted to it.

wild tobacco has no use value but tomato can be grafted to it, DPI had a project going and some on a thread also were dabbling, theory being develop a tomato plan with good strong roots and drought hardy, got no idea about end results

anyhow all FYI
With peace and brightest of blessings,

len

Hi Len - yes i also let the Solanum torvum grow as food for the birds :) it's quite hardy through this drought we've been having so i don't mind at least there's something for them to eat.
