Stopping a chestnut from producing ?

Postby pete_moss » Sun Dec 11, 2016 11:17 am

We have a large Chesnut tree, and have no use for the fruit. When the fruit and outer casing drops on the ground, the outer casing is very spikey and hard to get rid of. We did try roasting the chestnuts, .. very uninteresting.

Does anyone know how to stop the chestnuts from producing fruit please ? Something done to the tree, to the soil possibly ?

The pic shows the stage the fruit is at the moment.
