Growing strawberries

Postby Beginner Gardener » Sat Jun 03, 2006 4:25 pm

I'm a bit confused. I am growing my "sweetheart" strawberries in numerous pots in two areas of my garden. One area receives about 7 hours of sunlight a day and the other receives about 2 hours a day. The strange thing is, the plants growing in the shady area are doing much better than the plants in the sunny area. I thought strawberries loved sunlight! All other factors are the same- pot size, soil type, moisture etc Has anyone else experienced this or are my plants just freaks of nature?

They grow bigger but don't fruit. My daughter had some the same. In spring give them some fruit and flower food.
