Aphids on water lily

I have a problem with what looks like grey aphids absolutely thick on the stems and leaves of my water lilies that sit above water level!! :( What to do?? Obviously I cannot spray them!

I 'drowned' as many as possible yesterday but pushing the lily underwater!!! THOUSANDS of aphids floating on the surface - thought the fish might have appreciated the extra food, but not a fish in sight!!

Any suggestions?? :? :?

Hi, Froglover. Oh...so I'm not only one...I have absolutely the same problem now!
10000000 of them on every floating leave and not only on lilies...I cutted many already, tried to clean with water, yes, extra food...I remembered in internet one spray especially for water plants but it was from USA. :( It was 15 US$. I try to find it, maybe we buy online. :) Brb. 8)

Could you phone one of the specialist water garden nurseries?

I don't think i'd worry about them FL. Let nature take its course. Are there native fish in the pond? They'll take their share when they want them. MAybe the dragonflies etc might give them what for. I expect there is an antidote in the pipeline.

Just a few tiny fish from the local creek - they dart about VERY fast and love algae! Lots of comets and shubunkins but I don't think they are interested. Like you say, maybe the dragon flies and other critters might help out. :) I didn't do anything about it last year when it happened in the bigger pond and this year, so far so good. Like you say, nature will send along a remedy eventually! :D

You should try to spray antiflies on water where these lilies are planted and all around the area surrounded by such aphids, try to change water in regular inter wells if possible because dirty water causes so many problems to plants.
